Art and local cultures that directly discover new awareness on topics of local nature. Among the issues raised are the study on the awareness of local visual arts and illustration that depicts local images and scenes. There are also writings that touches on art education through appreciation, interpretation and art experimentations involving calligraphy, photography, fashion design, interface design and entertainment phenomenon through social media like video and TikTok.

Art and Expression (ARTe) is a biannual publication (March and September), published under the collaboration of the Department of Fine Arts, Faculty of Art & Design, UiTM Perak Branch with Galeri Al-Biruni under the supervision of Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia. ‘ARTe’ is an amalgamation of the English word ‘Art’, and Malay word, specifically Perak slang ‘Ate’ which translated as a conversation starter. ‘ARTe’ uses the concept of a book chapter as a platform for art enthusiasts to express their inner-creativity in the form of literacy conjecture. Originally, this book chapters and state-of-the-art reviews are invited for publications. It also hopes to enhance the culture of research and academic publication among academicians and artists for international recognition. It is our pleasure to announce that the first ever volume of ARTe is now published.
